FAQs

What is HAAAT?

The HAAAT Charter school provides a small high school environment for career focused and college bound students. Students have the opportunity to accelerate through high school and enter early into Mt. San Jacinto Community College. Our Charter provides that we will never be larger than 400 students.

Where is HAAAT located?

Beginning the fall of the 2008-09 school year we will be located at the old Santa Fe Middle School campus at:

  • 831 E. Devonshire St., Hemet, CA 92545

What are the hours?

  • 9:30am - 4:07pm
  • Students have the opportunity take first period classes at Hemet High School, Tahquitz High School and West Valley High School and be shuttled to our "new" campus.

Who can attend HAAAT?

All students are welcomed to apply.  There is not GPA requirement.  We are looking for students who are career focused and wish to work on their future career or educational path while in high school.  An application (with an essay) and interview are required.

What is the curriculum like?

We are a technology assisted hands-on learning school where state standards are applied.  Students are asked to create “proof” that they know the standards and can apply them in meaningful ways to real life.  Students are assessed in the same way all other HUSD students are; STAR, CAHSEE, benchmark tests etc.  Students must complete all graduation requirements of the Hemet Unified School District; 230 credits, and passage of the CAHSEE. Students plan for their career or college pathway in our career education classes.  Students earn one year of credit in one semester by attending classes for a longer period of time.  Students complete 8 rather than 6 classes per year enabling them to finish their high school credits earlier and to enter into Mt. San Jacinto College.  It is possible for students to earn credits toward their Associate of Arts Degree and/or Occupational Certificates while in high school.

Are any extra curricular activities offered?

We are not able to provide a complete array of high school activities however, students at HAAAT are involved in clubs, flag football, PE competitions, Science Olympiad, Unity Forum, Christian Club, Broadcast Club and other activities.  Students can participate in competitive sports at other schools by leaving HAAAT in time to attend practices in the afternoons.
